In 1985, Bob & Debi Smith started out on “a wing and a prayer”. They previously had owned a small family plumbing business. Years ago an orthopedic doctor family friend had recommended that they start carrying hot tubs so his patients who suffered from fibromyalgia, and arthritis could benefit from hydrotherapy. Prior to 1985 hot tubs were unheard of in the Midwest, but after some research about the Sundance Spa brand they made the leap to be one of Springfield Missouri’s first hot tub stores. In 1985 Bob & Debi Smith opened up Le Dipping Parlor Spas at their first location on Sunshine street in Springfield Missouri.
The business has always been about family and customer service. All three of their daughters have been involved with the business throughout the years, and we’re proud to say we are employing three generations.
Bob & Debi can still be seen visiting the store, but after 40 years and thousands of hot tubs delivered within Southwest Missouri & Arkansas, they’ve turned over the reins to the second generation.

The second generation, Laine Smith is Bob & Debi’s oldest daughter and can be seen throughout the store helping with filters, sales, or customer questions. Darrell Cribbs is Bob & Debi’s son in law and is the service manager and handles all of the hot tub installations. Creek Cribbs is our third generation here at Le Dipping Parlor, and he handles all of the cleaning and filling in as needed between school.
Our employees are not only family, but friends. You’ll always be greeted with a smile, and welcome in our showroom. After 40+ years we still have the same business model as years ago. We like to be called old fashioned in a fast paced world.
